Smallest Countries of the World

After hearing the name of America, Brazil, Russia, China and India, we have felt the picture of largest countries of the world in our mind. But there are some countries in the world where it takes only thirty minutes to travel the whole country. Even they have no capital city or own currency. But this are recognized countries. Such type of smallest countries list are :

Tuvalu

Tuvalu
Tuvalu is the fourth smallest country in the world. It's ancient name is Ellice Island. It is located in the Pacific Ocean, midway between Hawaii and Australia. Its nearest neighbors are Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa and Fiji. Its population of 10,544 makes it the third-least populous sovereign state in the world. Funafuti is its capital city. The area of the country is only 26 square Kilometer. The aboriginal population is Polynesian. Tuvalu is a Commonwealth country and got its independence on 1 October 1978. It also became 189th number member of United Nation on 5 September 2000. The country's foremost marine nature and the main island Funafuti have become a place of special interest for the tourists. The area of Funafuti is only 3 square Kilometer. As the tourism business is increasing, an airport has been built for the tourist. 

Monaco

Manaco
Manaco's capital city is Monte Carlo. It has an area of 1.98 sq km (0.76 sq mi), and a population of 36,371. The country is located on the southeastern Mediterranean Sea shore of France. Tourism business is the country's main driving force. The countries main attraction is its Casino. Monaco is the most densely populated country in the world as 23660 people per sq km living in this country. Monaco has been governed under a constitutional monarchy since 1911, with the Sovereign Prince of Monaco as head of state. The wider defense of the nation is provided by France. Monaco has no navy or air force, but on both a per-capita and per-area basis, Monaco has the largest police force (515 police officers for 35,000 people) and police presence in the world.

San Marino

San Marino, officially the Republic of San Marino and also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino is an enclaved micro state surrounded by Italy, situated on the Italian Peninsula on the north-eastern side of the Apennine Mountains.  Its size is just over 61 km2 (24 sq mi) with an estimated population of over 30,000. Its capital is the City of San Marino. The special feature about San Marino is, it is considered as the most old republican country. And the interesting fact is , no ruler of Italy did not try to integrate San Marino with Italy. The surprise thing is that the country has no mentionable water reservoir. The country is only surrounded by hill. The hills are surrounded by beautiful green trees, which is very attractive. Many people visits this place in their free time.

Marshall Island

The Marshall Island, officially the Republic of the Marshall Island is an island country located in the northern Pacific Ocean. Geographically, the country is part of the larger island group of Micronesia, with the population of 68,480 people spread out over 34 low-lying coral atolls, comprising 1,156 individual islands and islets. The most populous atoll is Majuro, which also acts as the capital. Fishing has been critical to the economy of this island nation since its settlement.

Vatican City

Vatican City or Vatican City State, in Italian officially Stato della Città del Vaticano is a landlocked sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the city of Rome. It has an area of approximately 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of just over 800. This makes Vatican City the smallest independent state in the world by both area and population. Vatican City has its own constitution, postal system, stamp, seal, flag and other national symbols. The whole Vatican city is surrounded by wall. Inside the wall there are garden, assembly building and the premises. The biggest building name is St. Peter's Basilica. 

Malta

Malta is also one of the small country in the world. It situated in the center of the Mediterranean and its capital city is Valletta. Malta covers just over 316 km2 (122 sq mi) in land area, making it one of the world's smallest states. It is also one of the most densely populated countries worldwide. Malta is internationally renowned as a tourist destination, with numerous recreational areas and historical monuments, including nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, most prominently the Megalithic Temples which are some of the oldest free-standing structures in the world.
